Tommy Robredo Retires from Swedish Open with Leg Injury

Fifth-seeded Spaniard Tommy Robredo retired from his first round match today at the Swedish Open against Italian Filippo Volandri due to a left thigh injury.

Volandri had taken the first set, 7-5, and the players were at 5-5 in the second set when Robredo made the decision to stop.

Robredo won the tournament in 2006 and 2008.

Swedish World No. 5 Robin Soderling will be participating in this year’s tournament as its top seed. Spanish World No. 6 David Ferrer, fresh off his Davis Cup victories over two top ten players in Andy Roddick and Mardy Fish, will be seeded second.
